Wouldn't it be nice if there was a quick fix to get all of your vitamins? If you have ever seen the classic "vitameatavegamin" episode of I Love Lucy you saw a demonstration that there is no quick fix to meet your nutritional needs. The best way to get all the vitamins and mineral you need is to practice the principles of moderation and variation! A healthy diet does not mean starving yourself or eliminating certain foods all together. You can have a candy bar, you can have ice cream or chips or anything you want as long as you vary what you eat to include a balance of the necessary food groups and you eat in moderation. So have that Ben and Jerry’s Chubby Hubby, just don’t eat the whole pint in one sitting. Once you follow those simple rules you’ll find that most of your vitamin and mineral needs are usually met without the need for supplements.

During our vitamins and minerals unit we will cover:
-Fat vs. Water soluble vitamins. Do you know which are which?
-Different vitamins, minerals and trace elements and what foods they come from. For example did you know that spinach is a vitamin C rich food? Or that 1 cup of tomato sauce has more than 1 ½ times the potassium of a cup of bananas?
